Fuel Gas Modulating Valve for Pratt & Whitney GG4/ FT4

I would like to replace our Hamilton Standard PWA 626159E Modulating Valve and Hamilton Standard SPC-2A controllers.

I have contacted Hamilton Sundstrand but I don't seem to be talking to the right person. Anyone know of an equivalent modern day Fuel Gas valve and controller suitable for this P&W Engine?

Hello.
Do you have any additional information? What is the exact engine type and model? What type of fuel and configuration? Do you have the serial number of the engine and/or turbine?

Did you try talking with P&W? Iam sure they can recommend a suitable fuel control valve and I am surprised that the ech person at Hamilton is not able to assist you. For anyone here to assit you we will need very detailed information.

You are replacing this components for what reason? Just because they are old? IF they still work, perhaps they need to be serviced - cleaned, adjusted, ect.

I for one would be talking to Hamilton and P&W about this, they are the experts on this issue.

There are several possibilities for replacement. If the valve is good and you only want to replace the actuator, that is possible. Complete valve with new controller can also be done. Repair or exchange of the valves and the SPC2A can also be done. I do controls work for JTS and can repair, exchange or replace as required.

Speak to Woodward. We've spoken to them in the past about replacing the gas and liquid valves, along with the SPC. It's not a cheap option as they suggested hydraulically driven valves. Hamilton Sunstrand got out of this line a while ago. You could contact Wood Group Pratt and Whitney in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. Try and get hold of Ralph Grasso. Number there is (860) 623 3366

Hamilton Standard (now Hamilton Sundstrand) has not been involved in servicing this equipment for many years. Their original Stationary Power Controllers and Sequencing equipment were well engineered and any replacement equipment should closely emulate the logic and algorithms of this originally installed equipment.

My company, Plainville Electrical Products (PEPCO) of Bristol CT makes a replacement digital fuel control for the old Hamilton Standard SPC-2A. We have about 50 in service with the first installed about 5 years ago.

We leave the Woodward actuator in place which is a huge advantage for our product over others. The Woodward actuator is a high quality item that is easliy serviced.

I have a completed list of all tool and consumable parts required for disassembly and assembly of GG4A and GG4C model turbines. Also I have the list and cross reference for sweeney tools for GG4 turbine. This list is broken out into two books for the PWA tools and sweeney tools.

I previously worked at a field rep for GE Power System and also Turbine Technology Services. I no longer have need for this information but Im sure you may find it useful. I have 4 binders in all. Please make an offer if this interests you. Thank you.

I due have a lead on some control parts for GG4/FT4 if you require assistance.

Do you need/ or know of anyone in need of SPC2A, or SPC2 controllers?
