could anybody advice on pressure and temperature compensated natural gas flow measurement?

i have to measure natural gas flow whose temperature could rise to 150°F and pressure to 1150 psi.

i am using honeywell STD 924DP transmitter for flow measurement and honeywell STG 974 transmitter for pressure measurement. i am using honeywell experion PKS DCS for the process control.

Dear friend;you must recalculate the flow by this eq.:
Q=Q1*sqrt((Tc/T)*(P/Pc)) where
Q1:measurment flow by transmitter
T:gas temp.(measured temp.)in kelvin
P:gas press.(measured press.)absolut!add barometery pressure.

Pc:nominal press. .(design temp.)that narrow device (oriffice ,..) calculated on it.
absolut!add barometery pressure.

Tc:nominal temp..(design temp.)that narrow device (oriffice ,..) calculated on it.in kelvin

Q=compensated flow
of course i have a completed note if you want please contact [email protected]

If you have the K factor (for the flow element) and 3 measurements, differential pressure, absolute pressure and medium temperature, you can calculate the mass flow.

Q = K * sqrt(dp*pressure/temp)

You have one measurement, DP, of 3 needed to calculate mass flow.

So, you can add an absolute pressure transmitter and a temperature transmitter (maybe either is there already).

Or, you could replace the DP transmitter with a Honeywell multivariable transmitter (model SMA 1xx) , which is measures DP, AP and temperature and calculates the mass flow. It uses an RTD or thermocouple input for temperature measurement.

Rosemount 3095MV for a compensated DP flow. They can be configured for a variety of primary elements, feed it an RTD or TC and you should be in good shape.

Cheers!!

Dear Sir.
best option for natural gas flowmeter is Vortex Flowmeter with inbuilt temp and pressure compentation. Jrohne Germany is famous in natural gas flowmetering. U will get accuracy of 1% zero maintenance. Doesn't require any additional cost like cabling cost

You will need the AGA3 and possibly AGA8 gas calculations. You can probably get these as functions for the Experion system from Honeywell. AGA3 is fairly straight forward. You can use a perodic calculation if all your looking for is gross volumeteric flow. I don't have the equations handy but they are probably easy to find on the Internet. BTU is also very common in natural gas and required to calculate efficiency.

We may need to comply with contractual agreement if there is custody transfer of the gas. The contract will dictate the method of calculation and base conditions. The Exerion system may or may not be an acceptable calculating device.

I hope this helps,

Dear
We can calculate natural gas compensated flow by orifice plate flow meter,turbine type and vortex type but the most accurate method is vortex flow meter. Turndown ratio of orifice flow is 1:8 and vortex flow is 1:30 it has no moving parts,no maintenance,no o ring or seal,easily install inplace of orifice plate and no need to caliberate again untill flow media change, you can visit our web side which has perfect solutions for any kind of flow.

Thanks

Yes, Vortex has been a choice of flow meter to meter Natural Gas & other gas metering application but today there are many choices to look at VERABAR Flow Element(Turn Down 10:1), ACCELABAR (Turn Down of 60:1) etc. Visit www.veris-inc.com to know more about it.

ACCELABAR is cathcing up the market to win a respectable position over Vortex due to its capabilities to meter a larger turndown.

Can anyboday Help for AGA-3 block calculations using Honeywell Experion PKS with C200 controller. we are on ONGC-Offshore site and facing problem for configuring the same.

We manufacture Electronic Flow Measurement devices that calculate gas flo in the ranges you have listed. These also give you historical logs in hourly or daily formats. Gas compensated for pressure, temperature, and composition.
