Connect a barcode reader to M340

I need to connect a barcode reader to a M340 PLC that has 1 ethernet port (just messaging service) and 1 CANopen port and the only way that i´ve come to is with a SICK scanner through CANopen but its a really expensive solution. Does anybody knows a cheaper option?

You could use an Ethernet (Modbus TCP/IP) to Modbus ASCII gateway such as Schneider Electric ETG100. Assuming you are not actually using the Canopen for anything else, you should have bought a M340 with Ethernet and serial port. It is not possible to add a serial port to any M340 system. It has to be on the CPU to start with.
The ETG100 is £285.00 UK list price.
