Converter for PCI to PCI Express

Is there any converter available from PCI to PCI Express slot? I have to install PCI-85 card only available for PCI slot, but the servers I am looking at only have a PCI Express slot.

I don't believe such a thing exists. The two buses are too different for the signals to be readily converted. I would suggest looking at some different servers.

I have a different problem, I want to go the other way.

I have an older computer and just found this killer video card on sale. When I got it home I realized it was PCI-e, and I only have a PCI slot. Is there any way to convert or adapt my PCI slot and be able to put in the PCI-E card?

I have that exact same problem. I bought a great video card, but found that it wouldn't fit into my PCI slot. I am also wondering if there is a converter.

Newer computers use PCI Express for video cards and all the new video cards seem to be PCI Express these days. There are several different mechanically incompatible PCI Express connectors which are intended for different maximum speeds. The video cards use the highest speed version. PCI Express is a high speed serial bus, while PCI was a parallel bus.

Older computers used AGP for video. Even older ones sometimes used PCI. PCI-e by the way, is not the same thing as PCI Express. It's a higher speed version of PCI. It wasn't very common.

I would suggest you either take the video card back to where you bought it, or replace the rest of the guts of your PC (or buy a new PC).

Yes. you could get a new motherboard for what a converter would cost. But if you look on pricewatch or other services you should be able to find a NOS PCI card without any problem.

Mine is worse; My CEO needed a port replicator and the one sent to me connects via a PCI-Express card. His laptop only has the PCI port. So if no convertor exists which is cost-effective I shall have to return it to the vendor.

Here is the card I use it works on 1 inch and the Full size PCI E card slots for versions 1.0 and 2.2 Specifications.

Yes there is. i am using one in my system.

I buy 2 years ago a mini itx board that came with a pci slot!!!! i was surprised with that because i needed to use a pcie graphic card in mini itx and i could not.

I buy mine at this site:
http://www.virtuavia.eu/shop/pci-32-bits-1-x-pci-express-adapter-.html

Works perfectly, no issues.

Right now i have an Avermedia hdmi capture and tv tunner card in it which have a slot pcie x1 and it is perfect.

The only bad thing about this adapters is that cards front metal don't adjust very well because the new plugged pcie into adapter gets a bit higher in motherboard. if you gonna use one of these things then make sure that the pcie card you will use have a low profile metal extra.

Functionality is 100%.

by the way, the mini itx board was a Jetway NC81-LF
