Hi to all,

We have existing S7300/400 Ver 5.1 software package installed in my PC. It has also Step7- MicroWin 32 (V3.3.1.0.3) embedded in the package. Does MicroWin32 work on S7 200 PLC family? Before I purchase S7200 PLC since my PC supports USB port I prefer to buy USB/ppi cable. Is the cable correct?

Thank you,

rey

Yes this software work with S7 200 PLC. If you are using S7 300/400 PLC with Simatic S7 software on your PC then you have PC to MPI converter. If you have this converter I think you do not need to purchase PPI cable because MPI cable works with S7 200, 300 and 400.

Hello rey;

You seem to have a workable system; the programming software for the S7-200 family is Microwin, and the protocol to program them is PPI, the USB-PPI cable should work. What I would check out is the version of Microwin you have installed on that PC; Siemens is now working with version 4.0, I believe version 3.2 will not support USB connections for example.

Have a look at the S7-200 system manual:
http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/1109582
Whatever you decide to do later on, it is the complete reference to the S7-200 family, including the Microwin instruction set and S7-200 communications.

Hope this helps,
