Hello to all,
I have noticed threads about Siemens' DCS (T1000, T2000 and T3000) that occasionally pop up. I hope you'll help me deide whether we need APF (automatization processors fail safe) or not in our power plant. I haven't enough material to decide and need to aks your help and opinions. If I understood correctly APF is connected to corresponding AP. APF has redundant processor in which same software is running. If there is a difference between these two code's results, fails safe ensure safe state (which means unit's trip).
Also I have read that every analog measurement is converted to integer (0 to 10000) and treated that way, because arithmetic is "safer" although I don't understand this.
I was thinking to place all unit's protection in fail-safe, but sure if extra costs can justify that.
What are the questions that need to be considered and answered in order to decide right?
Thank you
