KMC Controls Replacement

I was reading through some of the past posts and came across one that was written March 24, 2007. Curt Jeffreys responded to a problem with a KMC system. He said that he had found a way to replace the Lan controller of a KMC system through the Ethernet gateway and still use the sub-Lan controllers. I have been considering doing this very same thing and would like a little advise.

I developed a gateway to replace the KMC Multinet/LAN controller for my company. It collects data from, and sends commands to, the KMC sub-LAN. We use a tweaked form of Modbus/TCP to send data to a Windows OPC server application that exposes all KMC data as OPC points.
