Bus Bar

I want to calculate the main busbars size for our upcoming switch gear extention any one please send me the busbar calculation formula and the necessary things to select a bus bar i will be very thank full to you for any help

The calculation shall be done is short-circuit current (the guidance is in IEEE RED Book - STD 242-1986) and bus bar load.

Sometimes if we want to expand our system we can use the existing system as a reference. For example 25 MVA busbar and normal load (amperes let says 2000 A, 2500 Amps). It is OK if your expansion is not included power generation and big motor.

But if it is included additional generator and motor a detail calculation shall be done (follow IEEE Std 242-1986.
