Hi,

I recently purchased an ASEA GA-63 generator in Sweden.
It is a synchronous 8 pole built in 1942 with a 60 kVA rating.
Is there anyone that can supply documentation for this generator, or any GA series generators?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Kind regards,
Hubert

Hi,

I was given the parts from a generator switchboard to use with my ASEA generator. Now the system was built by BBC and dates from the 60's.
I have contacted ABB for information, but they only have been able to dig up some very basic information, so I am left with a couple of questions.
The generator control system basically consists of three units. The first one is a voltage controller AB 2/1, that is supposedly used to control the output voltage. A second unit JB 1/1 is a voltage controller as well and should be used to control the power factor.
Now it puzzles me why a separate voltage controller is needed for that purpose and why the main voltage controller can't be used for that.
There is a third unit CUHc2v of which the function is unknown to me.

Is there anyone that can supply additional information or diagrams?
I understand that these units were quite common in the 60's. They use axe head shaped contactors that roll along segmented contacts. The units are quite large and housed in glass fronted panel mount units. Maybe someone can remember them?

Any help or information would be much appreciated.

Kind regards,

Hubert
