Does anyone know a good model for tuning a PID control loop in a direct fired furnace?

I am aware of the Open and Closed Loop tuning techniques based on the ZN mathematical models, but I wonder if anyone out there has any other recomendations specific to this process.

I would greatly appreciate your suggestions and ideas.

ZN is fine for the application, of course you also have to design the proper control circuit with fuel/air cross limiting to prevent blowing the thing off of the pad. Direct fired furnaces are not a controls 101 project. My company has extensive experience and could help in the design of sound algorithms if you wish. [email protected]
