Does anyone know of or have a general glossary of Instrumentation and Controls terms, that would define such items as PLC, DCS, HMI, etc.?

One that I find useful is at the link below.

http://www.geocities.com/ikind_babel/babel/babel.html

You can download the data at this link, in-case it no longer is available in the future.

Hope this helps.

I would go to the source.

The ISA Dictionary of Measurement and Control is THE authoritative source for such definitions...and is available online for members at http://www.isa.org.

Not sure what you want. The above names are acronyms. Have never seen a glossary for 1. Programmable Logic Controller, 2. Distributed Control System, or 3. Human Machine Interface.

Be specific.

PID - Proportional, Integral, Derivative.
PV - Process Variable
SP - Set Point
CV - Control Variable
FB - Feedback

ISA has an Automation, Systems, and Instrumentation Dictionary that might fill the bill.

http://www.isa.org/Template.cfm?Section=Books1&template=/Ecommerce/ProductDisplay.cfm&ProductID=4518

Price is $69 US for ISA members, $84 US for non members.
