how to connect ABB AC800C PLC and ABB Process Panel 235 using RS-232 and COMLI protocol?

You need a simple cable called TK-PP30V030, part number 3BSC690109R1. This cable connects to the serial RS-232 port of the panel and COM1(RJ-45) on the AC800C. Then you need to program the AC800C Access variables connected to the actual variables that you need to interact with. Then at the panel you need to select the COMLI driver for the panel(also assocciate COMLI to the RS-232 in the hardware structure) and assign the presentation object to a register like Rx, x=0..999 (for double integers) and 0..999 for binary signals.

Do you know the pinout on this (TK-PP30V030, part number 3BSC690109R1) cable? I have ordered one, but need to make a temporary cable while waiting on the original one.

Today I was having trouble trying to download a program to a PP235. As I didn't have the TK-PP30V030 I tried with a null-modem cable without success, but then I inverted the Tx and Rx pins and it worked fine. So if you have one or if you are able to build it yourself, just connect the pins 2, 3 and 5 from your PC RS232 port to the 2, 3 and 5 pins of the PP235 port respectively.
2->2
3->3
5->5
Hope it helps!

I never connected a process panel with the AC800 because the touch pannel is very expensive. Now,we are testing the communications between AC800 and PROFACE 570RS via modbus. I think that is posible to conect. (AC80, the little brother, and PROFACE runs well via modbus).

Hi,
It is very easy, what you need to do is just to configure AC800C controller
using the Control Builder software. assign the address into the Comli table.
(If you are going to connect using Serial communication) connect the serial
cable and it will automatic connect both device up.
If you still have any further question, you may email to me at

Hope it help.
