I have an application that has a Modbus RTU pendant acting as a master and 2 Modbus TCP slaves. It appears that some of the gateways only support TCP Master and serial Slaves. I found 3 that support an RTU master:
1. Square D. "174 CEV 300 20" $1027
2. Moxa MGate MB3180 $????
3. Perle DS1/TS2 $160
4. Your recommendation please $????
The Perle device is much cheaper but does it work and is it robust enough for the factory floor?
Thanks for your advice,
Mark

Search Lantronix for UDS1100-IAP & XPRESS-DR-IAP, they are reliable serial servers that you can use as a com port replicator (included driver) or convert into protocols converter, including Modbus. When you use with a serial master device, you specify TCPIP destinations list that math modbus adresses asked by master. Serial side is fully configurable; RTU or ASCII, 232, 422, 485, baud, parity, etc...
Be sure to choose IAP versions, that are upgradable with provided protocol converter firmware.

Our company makes a gateway called the ETH-200 that has 1 Ethernet port (supporting Modbus TCP slave), 2 RS485 ports and 1 RS232 port. The RS485 and RS232 ports can be configured to be either Modbus RTU master or slave. All ports can be simultaneously active.
