Hi guys,

In our company we have a ball mill for grinding the raw materials. The ball mill should be rotated for a particular number of revolutions only. Over grinding may ruin the mixture of the raw material. Is there any mechanical counter solution available for controlling the number of revolutions? The motor should be turned off after completing a particular number of revolutions. Any idea about how to do this? Expecting for your valuable suggestions...

 

A microswitch, a counter, and a relay, that's all.

 

Mechanical tends to be iffy at motor speeds. You can do this with a proximity switch and any number of counters from Red Lion and the rest of the usual suspects. Or if the speed is constant, you can simply use a timer.
