DeltaV Maintenance and Backups
Application Questions and Problems topic
Posted by Ricardo Llavina on 13 September, 2007 - 11:06 pm
Has anyone found a way to automate the DeltaV database cleanup, either the regular or the extended procedure? Also, I am looking for options to backup a DeltaV system. I don't want to use a batch file, I am looking for a comercial application like the one that Emerson offers (Critical Backup Application) but from a third party. I want to have a user interface easy to work with and configure.

Ricardo,

DeltaV v9.3 has an option to automatically perform a database clean / extended clean on a scheduled basis. There is no command-line way to my knowledge to execute this in prior versions.

I am currently working on a full third-party DeltaV backup solution. It is currently in the testing phase; I hope to have it comercially availble by January 2008. Let me know if you're interested in checking out a pre-release version.

Ricardo,

Which version of DeltaV you are using? From 9.3 onwards, DeltaV database manager has the option of automatic database cleaning.

Somnath

Ricardo,

On second look, there is a command-line way to perform a database clean in DeltaV versions prior to 9.3. This is the command that the Database Administrator utility actually calls; it is an objectivity command-line tool:

C:\DeltaV\objy61\bin\OOTIDY.EXE D:\DeltaV\DVDATA\Databases\<DATABASENAME>\configdb.hdb

Take caution when using this; I am not sure if it forces a disconnect of all clients or not. As always, be sure to keep regular backups.

Ricardo:

Hello! By chance we saw your question while verifying the market.

We already have our version 2 to comply with DeltaV 9.3 backups, and we no longer are restricted to Emerson representation, so we can go over and show the new version to your client.

We already installed the new Version at Abbott Humira, and promptly to Wyeth, and since version 1 installed at Lilly PR5, we have included more nice features.

You can contact me at jetorres@conecodepr.com

Remember, that if your client needs more features than already implemented we can evaluate and consider to add the feature as part of the application original price, like we do for all our clients.

Best Regards;

Jose Torres
