AB to EGD

We have a Fogger added to our GE 7FA. It is using an AB SLC 500 series and I want to display certain data on our GE Cimplicity HMI. What is the best solution? Our 7FA has a Modbus slave available and I am able to configure the GE side with ease. I am curious about the abilities of the AB side and what is the most efficient way to broadcast certain information. I don’t need any additional control, I would just like simple running information and alarms. I am not 100% certain to use Modbus, it’s just the quick option I see available.

Please let me know any ideas or options I should look into.

An OPC server like that from Kepware can pull the SLC and provide the data to Cimplicity. The method used to connect the Cimplicity server and SLC depends on the model of SLC and distance between the SLC and the server.

Since you are interested in only displaying data from the SLC500 at the HMI, the easiest method is to get it direct to Cimplicity.

Allen-Bradley is one of the many protocols supported by Cimplicity HMI. You can use the COM port on the PLC and a COM port on the HMI for this type of data transfer.
