Hi everybody,

I want to control level of a tank by simply turning pump on/off. Pump motor is given 230 VAC supply. Can i use some probe on the high level of tank & connect it through a relay to the neutral of 230 VAC supply to turn off the pump in case of high level.

Please help.

Hi,
The normal way to control a pump in this situation is to have two switches one that opens on High Level (in series with stop button) and one that closes on Low Level (in parallel with Start button) if you try to use just one switch the pump may start and stop too frequently and overheat. Another way using only one switch is to use a time delay e.g. wait until the high level switch is cleared then start timer, when the timer times out start the pump again
