Hi friends,

This is sarabjot from Nasik, Maharashtra. I am working in an automation company here. Our company has decided to go for one positioning control project.

We are going to control the position and speed of a stepper motor using em 253 positioning module with Siemens S7 200 PLC (CPU 222, version - 02.01). The difficult part is, we are not going to use Siemens stepper motor drive. Instead we are going to use a drive card manufactured by some other company.

If anybody can send me the wiring/connection diagram for this project, I will be thankful to him.

Stepper motor details:
Name: 35BYJ46 stepping motor
Model: 35BYJ46

Application scope: It is widely applied in air conditioners, computer peripherals (printer/duplicator/Fax machine), medical apparatus, stage lighting and industrial automation equipment.

Main technical paramaters:
Rated voltage 12VDC
Number of Pole 4
Speed Variation Ratio 1/64
Stride Angle 5.625‹ /64
DC resistance 200ƒ¶}7%(25Ž)
Idle In-traction Frequency >600Hz
Idle Out-traction Frequency >1000Hz
In-traction Torque >39.2mN.m(120Hz)
Self-positioning Tor >34.3mN.m
Insulated resistance >10MĦ(500V)
Insulated electricity power 600VAC/1mA/1s
Insulation grade A
Rise in Temperature <35K(100Hz)
Noise <35dB(100Hz,No load,10cm)
Weight About 40g

Notes:
Working voltage & frequency, rotate speed, the output shaft and color & length of conducting wire can be produced according to client's request.

Hi,

The EM 253 cannot drive a stepper directly, so stepper motor specificatins are no help here. The EM 253 will though, give step and direction pulses, which can be used by a motor/control card combination. The connections for this will depend on the control card interface. The siemens documentation shows several possibilities including differential inputs, which I have used most often. I have used many of these devices, not with stepping motors, but with servo drives with step and direction inputs.

Because stepper is open loop position control? That you have cheaper solution with HSOutputs for stepper driver control.
