P+F splitter and Emerson AMS communication

Has anyone encountered communications problems using the Emerson DeltaV AMS suite?

When loop checking the field device, the field device locks onto the simulated value when we lose communication.

The AMS works through Channel 2 of the Splitter, when we swap over to Channel 1 then the problem is not apparent.

Anyone shed some light on this?
