Does anyone know if there exists a GCOM interface with new AC800M control? ABB provides MB300 interface, which is very similar to GCOM. But no mention about GCOM. Email to paulo. haag @ pop. agri. ch
Hello,
I have another question for you, Paulo. What are you using GCOM for? I'm very interested to know about the performance of GCOM, is it easy to implement, etc. We are actually facing big problems of performance with AC800 M and MB300...

Hallo,
GCOM is very similar to the MB300 network board. the difference is that GCOM is not deterministic.
To install it is the same as MB300 board. Compared with what AC450 has to offer for communication with external systems (ModBus) GCOM I consider to be the best solution. And it is an official "door" to ABB systems.
Please let me know about the problems your are facing with 800M.
Some data:
Up to four (4) external computer on same bus*
• Transmission rate up to 10 Mbit/s (ModBus 19,2kbit/s)
• High security due to flow control retransmission handling in GCOM-layer
• All external computer connect via GCOM have equal access to the bus

Hello Paulo,
As you have mentioned communication by means of GCOM, I want to ask you if you know if there is any simulation software available for testing the GCOM communication. We do actual communication by means of vxWorks on a VME board.
Thanks,
Roland

I checked some software suppliers of OPC servers on the market and the one from Wonderware was the one offering the best access to ABB database elements.
With this server and an standard client you can have access to ABB database.
