APACS + QUADLOC
Communications systems and equipment. topic
Posted by DAMENE Amar on 13 November, 2007 - 12:08 am
Currently I am working on Siemens APACS. In one of our of compression gas DCS, along pipeline.

The biggest problem faced is the loss of communication between the modules of APACS and do the trip of the station.

The MNET communication is used.

Who can help to tell me if there is another type of communications to replace the actual one installed?

Thanks.

The MNET communication (and MBX communication modules) is now obsolete. You can now use IEM modules that interface APACS controllers with Industrial Ethernet. From that, you can use electrical, optical or wireless ethernet communication media. See Siemens automation web site for details. HI! Damene AMAR

Please can you clarify the questions below?
1. What is the IO Module Model?
2. What is the code error message?
3. You already check the Dlogger file information?
4. What is the curretn setup of the input of the block TOT_IOShutDown? itīs "true"?

Comment:
1. You can check your risk matrix and decide if you can change the input of the block TOT_IOShutDown to "false"
2. You can and choice another option of fail safety action using the "true" input of the another block "PARTIAL_Shutdown" and define that the fail propagated by any Errror Class 4 donīt stop all the Equipment or Plant, but act to only pre-defined Output IO modules.

Please answer the questions 1 to 4!

Regards

Jorge Luiz - Service System Manager
