Steeplechase Error Logging

I've had a few instances where VLC has had a runtime error and was notified after the fact so the PC had lost the error message (due to rebooting or reloading, etc.). I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to use transaction express or tag2disk to log the runtime error messages?
