Analog to Modbus/TCPCan someone recommend a cheap, reliable solution for reading a single 4-20mA signal (loop powered device) via Modbus/TCP?
I've had a look at the Acromag 951EN/952EN range which seems to be what I need but that is too pricey.

Have a look at the Advantech Adam 6000 series. They have different models with a variety of configurations. I have used the digital I/O version and was quite satisfied. They list the 8-ch Analog Input w/DO Module at $ 315.00. They
support both Modbus/TCP and their own UDP ASCII protocol.
If you can find anything for less money than that, I suspect that many of us would like to hear about it.

Thanks, this could be what I'm looking for. $315 is the cheapest option I've seen so far.

I think that one of the cheapest I have seen are products from Advantech, products ADAM 4xxx are the thing you need. If you want more integrated system you can go to 5xxx. We bought ADAM 5510 TCP/E (8 slots for 8 different input/output cards) for 450 euros approx.

I have problem with ADAM-5510KW\TP and exactly ADAM-5024. I want to send 4-20mAmp via ADAM-5024 with Citect but I can't, please help me. (I use ADAM-5510KW\TP as ADAM-5000TCP without any Multiprog which is loaded on that.)

I don't know the device that you mention in your post, but I can recommend to you a good solution, and it's not expensive from my point of view. I'm thinking of Beckhoff Bus Terminal. The problem is that anything can be considered as expensive when you only have 1 signal to manage.

Thanks for the info. It doesn't look like the DHG has a unit that'll convert directly to Ethernet? Not a huge problem but I'd rather have a single compact unit.

Well, $600 is too pricey, even taking into account the general over-the-top prices we pay for "industrial" electronics.
Problem is we'll need 40 of these devices so you can see the costs will add up pretty quickly.

How bout a couple of 16 channel ADC cards
in a $200 PC and a couple days of coding.
