Accessing a Panelview

Has anyone connected to a Panelview via a modem to a 1747-KE that is connected to a RS-485 network?

I can connect to the network via RSLinx and can connect to the SLC 5/03, but am unable to connect via the Panelbuilder32 program. The Panelbuilder program fails to identify the modem.
