Thermal Overload
The threads that wouldn't die...
- PC reliability?
- Windows, real time
- PID loops
- PCs vs. PLCs
- Replacing people
- MS 'monopoly'?
- Software quality
- Where do we go from here?
- Why pay?

Yokogawa CS3000 DCS is installed in our refinery. 2 out of 4 operating stations (HIS) are unbranded systems, so we are trying to replace these systems with branded ones. To isolate the last station we put one terminating resistor on Vnet 1, but Vnet 1 failed to recover. We tried this on all stations but failed.
Remember, we are trying to do this job online, and in the past this was our usual practice to isolate systems.
If anyone has experience/expertise then please guide us.

For your sake, and the sake of your co-workers, PLEASE call Yokogawa for assistance. Replacing stuff doing hot cutover is dangerous at best, and criminally negligent if you kill somebody. Yokogawa knows their systems better than anybody else does, and they should be able to easily advise you.
Remember, most significant accidents in refineries occur during upsets, changeovers, hot cutovers and startup/shutdowns.

It would be a good idea to contact your local Yokogawa service centre. They would help you in sorting this problem.
