What is PI thread in DeltaV? I tried to search about it, I learnt it as historian for dynamic data. Can anyone please elaborate?

I am assuming when you say PI (pie) you are talking about the Process Information system. If so I may have some stuff I could pass on to you.

PI is a propriety Data Historian from the Vendor OSISoft (http://www.osisoft.com). It has been used by various SCADA/DCS vendors over the years as the embedded historian upon which their systems were based. In earlier versions of DeltaV v7.4 PI was used as the embedded historian, however with version 8 it was only offered as an upgrade option to v7.4 as Emerson were providing their own historian at this point.

As with all such things there are legacy issues and we have seen references to the PI Historian in later versions of DeltaV where Emerson have used their own embedded historian instead of PI.
