OK. I need to upload from Panelmate 1000 to convert to Panelview-Plus, but I don't have the configuration software of Panelmate 1000.

Can somebody help me please.

G'day,
Get a flashcard and try transferring the file from the PV1000 standard to the card. You should be able to import this into RSView Studio then. If you are unable to access the configuration screen via the screen navigation, you can use a combination of screen touches on power up, check the manual to find out how for the model you have.

Regards,
Trevor.

Oops, my mistake. I was having a few ales and misread.

It would nearly be worth purchasing the Panelmate software to reverse engineer the PM1000 as it is possible to do some trick stuff within the expressions. If you are not familiar with the Panelmate, it does not use tagnames but is similar to the PV+ with direct addressing in objects, and uses definable objects.

Trevor

The PM1000 is the old 5" LCD thing that has been off the market for 10+ years. Its not compatable even with the Panelmate plus stuff. The software that it works on is DOS and while the spftware will run in a DOS window, the comm stuff won't. You have to get W98 or earlier with built in comm port.

Since this product had extremely limited capabilities, it would probably be almost as easy just to start from scratch.

If you have a PM 1100 then you can use the Windows-based PanelMate configuration editor. I have not used this software since 2002 as I've only seen clients recently use RSView, WinCCflexible, etc. for HMIs and not any PanelMates. My memories of this software are not pleasant as it was essentially a 16-bit application pretending to play in the 32-bit world. I'm sure they've fixed that now but at that time it didn't even support full-length file names and still used INI files. Also it always wanted to you run in 256 colour mode on your Windows system.

If you have a PM 1000, then, as noted, you are in a bit of a pickle as you have to get the old DOS software and a PC or laptop that will allow COM port access for DOS.

From my PanelMate days I would say that the risk of having something fancy in a screen or message is unlikely at best. The fanciest thing I can remember off the top of my head is a bit of type conversion and string concatenation (as the PM had lousy support for strings at that time).

So, just go for it. The PV+ is much more powerful than the PM 1000 even in its simplest form.

Let Grantek know if you need any specific help.

I have done conversions of Panelmate to Panelview and vice-versa. Bear in mind that the file transfer utility in Panelmate1000 software won't run on any version of Windows later than Win98. You should be able to contact your Cutler-Hammer vendor and order the PM1000 software... Their tech support may even be nice and email it to you.

Actually last year Eaton released a PM1000 transfer utility that works on Windows XP. You can use the old serial cable that worked under a DOS-based OS and upload the application without hunting for an old Windows 95 or 98 PC. It's available for download on the Eaton Electrical website under "Tools & Downloads - Software Downloads". Then select Operator Interface - PM Vintage Software and Conversion Utilities - Software Download PanelMate 1000.

From there you can download all the PanelMate 1000 configuration software and transfer utility at no charge. Eaton also recently released a PM1000 import utility in the Canvas software that converts the PM1000 application so that it can run on a PanelMate ePro PS unit.

Here's a way to read the older PC3 that was created using the pmconv.exe utility with the windows based PMCONFIG software. Create a dummy sample program with the PMCONFIG for the PanelMate 4000. Then use the dos based PMC.exe to open this new program. You can then merge the project components of the older PC3 file and save. You should now have a PMCONFIG compatable file. Seems to work!
