Hello,
I want to design a smoke alarm detection system that sends alarm signals via a GSM network as SMS.

In this project i want to use smoke dectector, programming a PLC to a smoke detector.the plc is interfaced to a GSM modem via RS232 port.
The GSM modem then sends SMS alerts to preset mobile phone numbers through AT commands.

This is supposed to be a low cost project.
However am facing problems with product selection. what low cost PLC, modem and other components should i use, given specifications.

Do you have any approvals that must be considered?

While PLCs for 200 exist all the additional hardware/software will be more than 200.
