I am attempting to establish 485 Modbus comms to five Powermonitor 3000 units. I believe I have good comms to the devices as I can poll the real time clock for good data. However the actual current/voltage data in float format doesn't match the display data. Has anyone ever come across a similar problem?
This is not unusual. Since Modbus does not define a floating point data type there are all sorts of ways to send the four bytes of a 32-bit floating point number. You will need a way to get the bytes out of the Modbus message into the proper order. If you are writing your own code then this should not be a problem. If you do not have that option, you will need an external device to do it for you. Our Omnii-Comm product has an option for this.
