Modbus RTU over serial port
Local and wide area networking in factory automation. topic
Posted by vijay on 4 November, 2008 - 3:52 pm
Hi all,

I have a controller device with which I have to communicate using Modbus RTU protocol. There is a RS232 port in the device and to interface it with my PC with XP OS, is a serial comm port in my PC sufficient? Should I get a PCI Express card. If yes, could anyone give me few specifications of the card which should be installed in my PC. So that my program in LabView could actually access the controller using Modbus RTU.

Thanks in advance.

Yes it is. You may need to use a crossed 232 cable.
One side pins 2-3-5
Other side 3-2-5
