Starting VLSI : Should I start reading Verilog ?

I am currently referring to Digital Logic Design & Applications by Palan for building a base for VLSI. Except for PAL, PLA, CPLD & FPGA everything is quite understandable.

Now should I jump on to any good book like Verilog HDL by Samir Palnitkar? Or should I refer to some other subject in between? I mean there is good book FPGA-Based System Design by Wayne Wolf. Should I have to refer it in between?

Please answer this.
