I got Panasonic CF-51 laptop, I am trying to install Simatic S7. Every time i get setup error" please restart windows before installing new programes." I have restarted system many times but no success.

Any Idea ? what is restricting the installation?

S7 has no limitations/restrictions on the hardware normally. In my view it is a software issue.

If you have a new laptop, then it must be on Vista. Please check if the S7 that you are installing supports vista. Else, if it is XP, then S7 runs of XP professional SP2 onwards. If this part is OK, and even then you are having problems, it is corrupt windows due to a previous wrong installation or viruses. Reinstall windown and retry.

Good luck

Hello,
Thank you all for comments, Finally I am able to install it. The usefull information i found on internet, see the steps below.

Problem:
Setup error "please restart windows before installing new programes"

Remedy:

Click Run in start menu, type "regedt32.exe"
and press enter, follow root below
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager
Locate the file "PendingFileRenameOperations" in Session manager
Delete the file, Install the simatic, after restart of PC, this file will be back again
If you need to install another version or simatic upgrade, probably you need to go through the same process again.
