We Have 1 x 15 MW STG set running to cater the Captive load and runs in island mode.
Normal load on the STg varies as per the demand, one fine day the set was running on 10 MW load with all parameters in normal condition. Suddenly there was increase in vibration of STG front and Rear bearing. The values before incident were between 12 Microns to 20 Microns and suddenly these vibrations shifted to 18 Microns to 32 Microns. There was no change in load and all other parameters were unchnged. The higher vibration level were mantained even at different loads. presently set is operating on these higher level vibration. Even though the vibration levels are well within the limits, we unable to understand the basic cause of this.
We tried by varying oil temp and no change is found. There is no increasing trend also. Is there any way to check the external factors for this change. As regards to Probes each side has got two probes and all probes are showing increasing trend only and hence no doubt on probes correcteness. Vibrations of Gear box and Generators are unchanged.
