Usually remote seal tx. are one of the most reliable instruments for level measurement. But for last 3 months it has been alfunctioning.

Various types of maintenance activities has been carried out like cleaning the diaphragm, calibrating the tx, etc. but it was of no use. I would kindly request u to give me some more information regarding this type of tx. What are the types of problems one may face about its LRV, URV calculation? about its installation? What are the effect of the capillary legs filled with Si oil?

Any type of suggestion is requested. Anybody may feel free to contact with me in my email

Check the operating limits for the fill fluid from the manufacturers data sheet. The wrong fill fluid could have been selected for the application. The fill fluid can actually boil inside the diaphragm/capillary and upset the measurement.

If you are working with high vacuum, check the mechanical construction of the diaphragm. We have had problems here as well and had to change to a different mechanical/weld design on the diaphragm surface.

No actually there are no provision for filling fluid. The entire capillary setup (already filled) along with Tx., 2 diaphragms together as a whole comprises one unit, which gets installed at the two (upper and lower) tapping flanges.

The filled fluid is Si (grade:DC200) and from manufacturers datasheet it is within the range of operating limits, since for last 10 yrs it had been functioning quite smoothly.

And it is not for vacuum application. The two diaphragms at 2 tappings experiences a pressure of around 17kg/cm2.

Perhaps some of the fill fluid has leaked out. Did someone try to disassemble the transmitter?

Personally I avoid filled systems if at all possible, I feel they are more trouble than they are worth.

Thanks for the valuable information. Yes the entire setup has been disassembled quite a few number of times for maintenance purpose. Can the LRV for these remote seal type Tx. be Zero? If Yes, then in which Condition?
