i am using wincc v5.0 with windows 2000. Now i want to use windows XP. I came to know that windows XP can be used with Wincc v6.0. Is there any method to use v5.0 on XP?

or How can i upgrade v5.0 to v6.0 so that i may use it with XP?

 

Before too long you're going to be in the same boat with MS Windows XP that you are now with MS Windows 2000. Normal support for MS Windows XP was terminated earlier this year. For the next couple of years they will issue important security patches only, and then after that, nothing.

If you switch to using MS XP, that will be a short term solution only. So, whatever your plans are, you will need to keep that in mind.

Microsoft supports only their current and immediately previous OS product version releases. Their current OS version is Vista, and the previous one is XP. They are about to release MS Windows "7", which will make Vista the previous version and XP drops off the end out of support. Under Microsoft's normal product plans, expect MS Windows "7" to be around for about 3 years. After that its replacement is supposed to come out, and MS Vista will drop out of support. Etc.
