Presently we are using 4 nos of separate bar graph controllers of Eurotherm make model no 6380 to monitor 4 nos catalyst bed temperature. Each controller have two high alarm points with contact output each separately. Both alarm points are configured with set point and Manipulated variable blocks separately which compare with process variable and give o/p accordingly. And we can adjust two set point of alarm by front panel button like as we change control set point and O/P. Now we want to replace 4 nos controller. Please give some advice and we need following features:

1) Bar graph as well as digital indication of PV and on alarm point at least

2) Both alarm points can be changed easily by front buttons not moving to alarm menu.

Please suggest for single unit or 4 nos units.

 

Hi Sanjib,

Eurotherm has an upgrade for the 6380 called the T640, which can fulfill all your features and even fit into the existing scheme without having to modify the wiring a lot. This is possible if you choose their optional adapter to fit into the 6380 sleeve.If you prefer to remove the sleeve and redo the wiring, 1 no. of T640 can accommodate all signals and alarms. Changing setpoints can be done through front panel keys without having to go through the block programming.

Alternatively, the best solution for you would be go for paperless recorders, which can accommodate all signals (& alarms) and more.
One more solution would be to go for T2550(I/O Unit) with a display in the front, which gives you flexibility in increasing the no. of channels you want to connect in future. In this case you can have all alarm settings on the display and also trends for a short duration.

I am not sure i understand your request. Do you mean how do you configure the controller/Indicator? I would like to know which of the methods, i had listed would you prefer to go in for? Based on that i can provide more information.

Also other than the alarm contacts, do you have any analogue outputs required from the indicator?

WE do not require analog output. We need only contact type alarm output. Actually we want to view and change alarm setting value easily by pressing at least one or two buttons from front face. We need numeric value display as well as bar graph display of PV and at least one alarm value. If we get block diagram as per our requirement, it will be easy for us to understand.
