I have to test my modbus slave stack which contains all the modbus functions. But I don't have the Master part ready with me. Can any one suggest me with a Modbus master software for testing my modbus slave code.

You could try ModMaster from:

Modscan32 from www.win-tech.com is one of the most popular.

I find the master at www.simplymodbus.ca works well and is easy to use. There's almost no learning curve.

For Windows applications, check out Automated Solutions website.

Modbus Master ActiveX Control implements a broad range of Modbus functions including some obscure ones, and has support for intentionally generating bad Modbus packets to test your slave device's error handling.

Ready-to-run example apps will have you communicating immediately.

Modbus Test Pro is easy to use (although I may be biased since I helped develop it) and supports the most commonly used functions. The download is fully functional shareware with only a minor nag screen if you don't want to pay for it.

I have written a Modbus Tester for serial as well as one for Modbus TCP/IP. Contact John Caldwell at Schneider Electric in New Zealand if you want a copy. (john [dot] caldwell [at] nz [dot] schneider-electric [dot] com)

Hi,

I used to use one call Modbus Poll (http://www.modbustools.com/), I guess they have a newer version now. Very easy to use.

Good luck,
