Momentum Modbus Communication Freeze-Up

I have a Momentum PLC installed at a remote site and it seems to be having a reoccurring problem where the Modbus+ communication stops functioning. A simple power down and power up of the Momentum fixes the problem, but because a reboot of the PLC requires a trip to this remote site, I'd like to find a better solution.

Has anyone had a similar experience? Does anyone know a potential reason for this? Is this just a case of improper settings, or something that I've done wrong in my setup?

The Momentum unit is communicating to a Quantum PLC over 232 which is converted to fiber, and back to 232. I don't know what other information would be useful, but please don't hesitate to ask for more information.

Thank you!

The momentums have been known to be a bit picky with communications. Especially when noise is on either side of the line. I have had problems in the past that everything was great, but when a particular compressor came online, the electrical noise caused problems. There are methods and things that you can do that will allow a remote restart as well.

What type of environment is it in? manufacturing?? Remote monitoring??
