I have a GE 90-30 with a CPU364. I would like to know if it there is any way to configure the RS232 port on the cpu as a modbus rtu slave.

If not, does anyone have any ideas on how I can get a modbus master to communicate with this cpu?

Thanks

I am not familiar with the communication details of the 90-30 except to say that I am certain that it can communicate using the SNP protocol. however I can offer an alternative connection. You could use our Omnii-Comm product:

http://www.miille.com/din266-p00.pdf
or
http://www.miille.com/266-P00-Ethernet.pdf to provide native SNP to Modbus communication.

The Omnii-Comm products provide a Modbus to SNP connection.

You can contact me directly if you have any questions. Please use any of the links on our web site (miille.com) to get our email addresses.

Thank you,

Modbus RTU is available through communications module CMM311 or via programmable coprocessor module PCM311. Both modules have RS-232 (port1) and RS-485 (port2). Horner Electric make the RTM-705 modbus rtu master. The RS-232 port on the CPU is for firmware update only. As the previous reply said the ethernet port of the CPU can be used for Modbus TCP.
