Modbus TCP temperature monitor

I need to put some temperature sensors around my lab. The simplest bus to use would be ethernet, since that's already wired. Does anyone have a recommendation for a low-cost temperature sensor that can communicate over modbus tcp?

thanks,

I'm not sure how low cost you need, but this one ET-7005, http://www.icpdas-usa.com/products.php?PID=3436 handles 8 channels of thermistors. It is a Modbus TCP slave, and also has a web interface viewable from browsers. At $459, this comes to $57 per channel. The RTDs can be connected with simple copper wire, so perhaps you could have some 'hubs' of temperature input connected by Ethernet, that branch out to individual thermistors. You need to supply the thermistors.

I am looking for much the same thing, a simple temp and humidity for my server room. I just want something that I can buy easily, give it an IP address and be done.
