Can someone help me to understand what is the meaning of the below sentence which i found on the client standards,
6.1.7 The transmitter failure mode and ESD transmitter validation logic may be applied to minimize spurious trips by configuring the transmitter to fail in the opposite direction of the trip. In this case, the use of filters for transmitter validation and time delays to shutdown maybe applied for a period not greater than 30 minutes to allow operator sufficient time place the loop in bypass mode. A shutdown must be initiated at the expiration of the time delay in the event operations has not attended to or placed the loop into bypass in order to prevent compromising the intended function of the ESD loop. The operator shall be alarmed that a shutdown will occur in the designated time delay.
6.1.8 ESD transmitters which are voted in ESD logic (i.e., 2oo2 or 2oo3) shall be configured to fail in the direction of the trip.
