Gas Turbine Area and Equipment Notification Standards.

At my site there are two nos of Solar MARS 100S Gas turbines and control system retrofit is planned. For the same the OEM has sent us drawings of electrical connections, instrumentation logics.

We are preparing cable schedules for the retrofit which is planned some time in summer 2012. And we often come across a tagging methodology like "27TF-1", "26QA","45CR", "3S1" etc which is a bit confusing. I want to know if there is common guideline followed by Gas Turbine Manufacturers for tagging various valves, actuators, particular areas.

The tag names seem to be ANSI-derived, similar to how GE names devices on its turbines:

The first two numbers are ANSI device codes. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ANSI_Device_Numbers

The second two letters describe the type of service well.

QA - Lube Oil Temp
TF- Electrical Fault
CR- CO2 Release

...etc

The last number enumerates the devices.

But please remember that manufacturers use their own variation of the ANSI nomenclature, and the above might (or might not) be true for your turbine. There must be some sort of document explaining the device naming convention used in the project files you have been sent, or else you could just ask the solar/packager to provide you one! They should be able to send you something.

Do look at the thread below as well.

Hope this helps.
