Short circuit of one channel affecting others

Guys

Any help appreciated.

The wiring is correct as per the Siemens "Automation System S7-300 ET 200M Distributed I/O Device Fail-safe signal modules Installation and Operating Manual" Document A5E00085586-10, we wire to marshaling at the rear of the panel so when a short is done at the channel itself, that channel alone goes into fault. But when the short is applied at the terminals (approx 1m x 0.75mm2 wiring), then all channels and sometimes groups of channels fail????

The wiring is not twisted, should it be? The wiring is not mixed with signals above 24vdc but in the marshaling it is mixed with analogue 4-20mA wiring) - note all a currently floating as we are carrying out FAT.

Anyone came across this before?

During a previous project (HIMA) we had to add terminating resistors to all channels not wired but never had a situation at FAT where all channels randomly failed?

Thanks in advance
