Current Tranformer - Short Circuit or Remove?

Hi All,

The load on the primary circuit is increasing from 800A to 1600A.
Uprating the CB and the board will be done.

However I want to get your opinion on the following:
Existing CT is 600:5 and we will put in a new CT next to the CB. I plan on shorting the old CT and leave it there. I understand that shorting will result in very little current flowing through the secondary owing to the cable resistance (which is ok), however what about the primary winding? It will be seeing close to 1600A of current? Is it still OKAY to leave it there?

Because it's very hard to remove the old CT hence I am recommending to leave the existing CT shorted and leave it there.
