Lubricating Oil level for Gas Turbine

Hi,

We have a battery of four MS6001B gas turbines operating on duel firing with gas as a primary fuel.

We always maintain the console oil level about 50% to 60%. Advise me what could be the minimum oil level we can go. The reason being that the storage of oil is exhausted and we are expecting oil with in 60 days.

What is the expected oil loss irrespective to any leakages during normal m/c operation.

Check your L.O. P&ID for confirmation but our Frame 6 shows:-

1) Level Gauge Hi = 305mm from Tank Top plate
2) Level Gauge Lo = 405mm
3) Top of Emergcy. L.O. pump suction = 670mm
4) --"-- Aux. ---------"----------- = 620mm
5) --"-- Main ---------"----------- = 770mm

If you mean 50-60% on the level gauge, you should have no problem. As you can see from the above, when the Gauge shows empty, the tank level is still way above the pump suctions.

If you do not have an Oil Mist Eliminator, on continuous operation, one 45 Gal. drum is not excessive. If you have an Eliminator, it will be much less.

I would say that you are pretty well safe to operate until you get your oil delivery.
