I want just to post a serious problem that we have faced this 2 years on 55MW steam turbine. during running and under normal parameters of the process, we experienced a sudden positive axial shift of the turbine reaching the limit value.

We need more information. Axial position is controlled by the thrust bearing. If things are moving axially, then it would make sense to start there. However, what makes you say that you had an "axial shift"? Does instrumentation say so? Has anybody physically measured this with instruments such as dial indicator?
