there has been alot of talk about Ge Fanuc units/modules being phased out. is this true?

GE Fanuc no longer exists. GE and Fanuc dissolved their joint venture.
Fanuc is still making the CNC stuff and GE is still making the PLC, HMI, SCADA, and industrial PC stuff.

GE's new PLC/software division is called GE Intelligent Platforms, and their website URL is:
www.ge-ip.com
They still offer the RXni controllers, as well as "Proficy" (CIMPLICITY) HMI/SCADA software.

our line is down and we have unfortunately lost the application and do not have a backup, is there a possibility of retrieving the program from the faulty CPU?

MAYBE...
If it still powers up and the serial port or Ethernet port still works there may be hope. If not, you should contact the original developer and request a copy of the backup. Maybe there is a problem with the rack or power supply and repairing it will start the CPU back up.
More information would be helpful to someone attempting to assist you here.
Why didn't you get a backup before it broke?

Hi,
> our line is down and we have unfortunately lost the application and
Yes it is possible as long as you have not done much with the system since the crash. What is the operating system, computer configuration, version of iFIX, etc?
Please contact me if you want expert help. I have 20 years experience with Intellution (iFIX) and 35 years experience with PC's.
