I want to measure/weigh coal entering a coal fired grate boiler. The boiler used a LEA COAL METER which has been obsolete for years. What similar method can i use to measure the coal?

Does anyone know the principle of operation of the LEA COAL METER? I am stuck.

Somewhere in this quaint old document is a mention of LEA Coal Meter

http://www.sasta.co.za/wp-content/uploads/Proceedings/1930s/1938_Wi lson_Results%20Obtained%20From%20Thermal.pdf

I have no idea how they work
Do they measure Quantity or Quality?

The flow meter measured quantity. Might have been an impact flow meter
much like the one listed below.
