Our application requires this PC to be installed in an outdoor cabinet in Norfolk VA. The cabinet will not be in direct sunlight but will still heat up. It will be completely sealed.
We are looking at Phoenix Valueline PCs and I wonder if the group has good experience with those. What are the good alternatives? What should I be looking for? We need:
Wide temp range
Wide humidity range
Windows XP or 7
Core microarchitecture
SSD
Thanks,
D Seeley

Last thing I heard, the Allen-Bradley harsh environment units had some of the highest temp ratings available, and I've heard good reports on them from colleagues although I haven't personally used any.

We've used Phoenix Valueline PC's for the last couple of years and love them. All of ours are inside a food plant, but some are subject to 100-110F room ambient temp with high humidity. These have held up well. They run XP pro and the SSD's they use now are holding up real well. The display is very bright and easy to read.
Our experience with A-B versaview is lousy. Granted we haven't installed any new ones since we switched to Phoenix and we've only had a couple of "performance" versions which are more or less heat pumps with some graphics ability (grin), but I've never tried the harsh duty versions.

Yes, I deal with Captec for similar requirements too for wide temperature industrial computers. Their RFC range is -20 to 70. They actually provide us with a customised industrial computer, because we have specialised I/O.
Their addy is www.captec-group.com
