New flow compensation formula for an orifice plate
Engineering and workplace issues. topic

Hello,

We have an orifice plate for steam flow exportation from a combined cycle. This is used to charge our customer total exported steam.
For P and T compensation factor we are using the classical formula:

SQRT (( Preal+1)/(Treal+273))*SQRT((Tdesign+273)/(Pdesign+1))

Being real the flow values and design orifice plate design values.

I recently found out there is a more precise formula from Kent Thiaghi:

SQRT ((Preal-2)*(Tdesign+100)/(Pdesign-2)*(Treal+100)) with T in degC and P in kg/cm2.

Anybody heard this formula?
Thank you.
